Scraping noise

Postby dave100 » Wed Aug 30, 2006 9:31 am

A mate has emailed me about a problem with his car. Can anyone shed any light on it?

"Either the front left or back left wheel makes a ‘scraping noise’ like metal on metal when I corner in that direction (left turn) even at low speeds.

It stops when the car is going straight and does not happen on a right turn.

The noise is of the same volume at low and faster speeds.

Wheels arch liners is the first thing I'd check. More info needed, is the car lowered, bigger rims etc?

CJ, Its an MG running completely stock.

He says the noise doesnt change regardless of speed which is a bit weird :?

Try looking at the brake pads and calipers. It may be telling him his pads are getting a bit low.
