Luminous paints (Glow in the dark stuff)

Postby Muad_dib77 » Mon Jan 16, 2006 4:51 pm

I have an experiment in mind..but I was wondering if anybody here would know much about "glow in the dark" paint?

I'm considering sanding off the stardard orange on the back of the fto needles..and then replacing them with some glowy stuff..

Is water based stuff any good?
Do I go for metal stuff??

I'd say stay awat from water based paint for a start, as long as the colur you're painting it isn't dark then you should be OK. Light is directed up the needle regardless of the backing colour, you just need to make sure its not too dark.Personally, I'd stick with either red or orange.

As regards glow in the dark paint, I don't think it would make any difference (unless you're driving at night with your lights off!)

Heheh. I do that a lot! :-) Was just thinking it might add a kinda mad effect - even if it wasn't super bright..[/quote]

IMO i think thats a bad idea, instead of super bright youll probably end up with super dull.
and it may look a bit tacky.........
best off leaving it to paint stars on yous kids bedroom ceiling!!! :D

I've kinda gone off the Idea now... seemed to be alot of hassle for something that small...
The Blue/Orange light at the moment is quite ...ehm.. unique looking ;-) I'm not sure if I'm 100% happy with it..
Alternatively I might try to re-jig the light going up trough the needle..dunno really...that's even more fiddling...
