R34 GTR Skyline

Postby Dave » Fri Mar 19, 2004 1:41 pm

doing some research and have been looking at the R34 Skyline, and it really is a hell of a lot nicer than the older models, big money considering it only came out in 99.....
2.6 straight 6 twin turbo AWD, putting out about 280, but have read that real world values are 300+, something to do with a limit on BHP of cars coming out of japan.
compared to the supra that's a 3 twin turbo and depending on where you get it from it puts out 280-320....

Dave, I'd be interested to know if any of the Nissan garages around the place would be willing to service it for you ;)

The 280bhp rule is an agreement in the JDM, as you say, cars like the R34 and Supra TT come out of the factory nearer 300 that 280.

Lad in Monaghan has one. Seen it a few times when home at the weekend. A yellow one, and it is a total beaut!

yeah that would be an issue but the guy that does my car at the moment is a bit of a genius and works mostly top end mercs and beemers so i'm sure he'd be more than happy to get his hands on a GTR.....
but i do think that R34 is a far better looking model than previous ones and although it'd cost me an arm and a leg, i may seriously consider it. but that yellow one you were on about Adrian i think that was the one that was at Drag Warz last week..... i doubt there is many R34 GTR's in the country...

I have seen a couple of Skylines in the last couple of days. Nice big cars and obviously loads of power to boot.

Any update on your quest Dave?

Wouldn't mind having one of these myself some time in the future!!

not much news to report to be honest, it'll be end of summer before i can really consider getting one, there are loads on sale i japan at the moment they don't seem to hold onto cars longer than 3 years so there's quite a few 00-01's on sale, but fairly pricey, and god only knows what the VRT would be on one of these! i may wait till early next year to pick one up and hopefully the price will drop a bit. but i've seen one or two around myself and they really are some piece of machinery!! and rare as hens teeth!! 8)

dave , expect to pay over €15k for VRT on an R34 GTR v spec II, also supra TT, and GTR, etc are all restricted to 276 bhp............. this is 280 in jap equivalent. but to get lots of extra power out of these only requires derestricting certain parts ( basically the cars are governed to the hilt ) unleashing 400 bhp is commonplace with these two models
