Lack of power

Hi all plz help I have a 1994 2.0 gr auto it drives great but has just started to have no acceleration on occasion doesn't matter how flat you put your foot down.then suddenly kicks down and off like a rocket. This doesn't happen all the time. Desperate no idea

I'm not sure but check your alternator belt to see if it's loose.

If it's loose then it will be cool when starting up and could slip. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but if there isn't any power being generated by the belt for the alternator then it will be underpowered. In any event it's worth checking since if the belt snaps this can lead to further damage.
