[Meet suggestion] Any golfers on the site ?

Postby Dragonheart » Mon Jul 19, 2010 10:00 pm

Just thinking it would be maybe an idea for a meet sometime? I used play in the Dublin courses with my previous workplace once every month as part of the Dublin office and they used always take societies and groups, i.e. not strict on the standard of peoples ability, though obviously some basic ability would be required. But if we had a meet sometime, and then follow the Sunday morning up with a game would be a change instead of everyone just heading away after. Just an idea.

I'd be on for that. I'm not much good, and only been out 1 or 2 times this year, but if it was casual (could do a scramble or something?) I'd definitely be interested.

I play the odd game (not enough to be any good mind you) and would be open to an FTO-Ireland Golf Classic meet.

I have a good course in mind in Laoise. http://www.rathdowneygolfclub.com/

My uncle is a member and on the board so I may perhaps be able to get a group rate or discount or something.

Nice one. If we maybe throw a few clubs out there and see if we can come up with one would be an idea, good thinking.
I'd say most clubs would be open enough to groups coming in nowadays, a lot of them are struggling with getting anyone in full stop so would be glad of the business. I know our one is even after cutting out the bar wages for the year and its all done voluntarily now.

Theres some amazing courses in West Kerry but thats probably too far for people, played a lot of them in the Junior & Senior shields this year and they're in great nick. Also courses around the east of the country are supposed to be lovely too, and Esker Hills in Offaly is one I've played a few years and enjoyed it, nice and scenic built in between eskers believe it or not.
