I'm sure if could be done but you're talking about a lot of hassle and even more cash. You would need to transplant and modify the transmission and drive-train (the EVO being 4WD etc) and even then, I doubt the FTO's chassis would handle the amount of power at the wheels. Richard Batty in the UK was looking at dropping a Galant VR4 engine in which is apparently a lot more achievable, check out his site here.

Yep it is possible and already has been done, an owner in Austrailia has done it, i can't remember the link and i ain't got time to look for it at the moment, but if you get onto the aus owners site there is probably a link off that, having said that it looked faily crap with all the welding that had to be done plus he was missing part of the bumper to fit an intercooler, and due to the position of said intercooler one bad kerb or speed bump and it would be knackered.

this is the one.
i flirted with this idea myself, but over here you are talking serious amounts of cash, i reckon the chassis would handle it, but you'd have to change it from front wheel drive to all wheel to cut out constant wheel spin with that much power. all in all it'd more than likely be cheaper and more reliable to get an older evo. but it would be nice.
there is a crowd that i know do a lot of engine transplants and they might be able to give you some proper info.

IVI engines, haven't got the number to hand but should be able to get it on 11811, based in dublin.

just got an email there on the english group and it looks like it's Mark Emery's machine, well they're the pic's he's saying are his but i had seen this one on an aussie site or a japanesse site about three months ago for sale for $25000, with the engine in. so i doubt that he put that in himself, just bought it as is.

Probably a typo, I'd say they're talking about the Greddy TD-04H turbo kit that can be modified to fit lots of different models.

Not the one i was talking about but that is nice, very clean and looks like a good job done on it, no the one i saw had part of the lower front bumper missing to fit the intercooler and looked like a real home made attempt at it.
