Leak in boot floor??

Postby optical illusion » Mon Mar 12, 2012 10:24 pm

Hey guys, there is a frightening amount of water accumulating in my boot floor (and is beginning to rust it) and I can't figure out where the hell it's coming from. The boot carpet isn't wet anywhere so it can't be coming from above, so it must be leaking from just below? Both sides are wet, including the sloping parts and under the 2 compartments where you store your tools (wheel brace etc) if you get me :)

I've checked obvious channel for blockage with leaves etc, nothing obvious.

Sound familiar with anyone? I'm worried now as not too long ago the back bumper was off to be resprayed...

One of my lights also has condensation in it all the time and is growing some green mold inside...

Would appreciate any advice!!

Best piece of advice I got on here was from berno in my first week. I had the same problem and he said to take of the back seats and crawl into the boot with torch while someone is spraying the boot all over with a hose. I spotted my problem straight away then on my old GR.

I was about to give the same advice lastnight, but got distracted by something on tv and then went to bed.

I was just now awoken by the builders provider delivering sand and cement. Jaysus i'm tired right now.

Laura won't need to remove the seat to get in the boot though :)

Only if you trust the person who has the hose. Otherwise ya might be staying there for a few hours  .
Removing the seats would be a precaution in case you pissed the person off and forgot about it and they didn't

Mine was at the passenger side where the rear side panel meets the rear plate. It got a smack as some stage before I got it and was never fixed. I put a load of silicone in it and never let a drop in again.

I can confirm that getting locked into your own boot and then having the sound of water around you is really, fooking scary. However, I found the leak so it was worth it!
