Gratuitious MIVEC pron :)

Postby optical illusion » Wed Mar 30, 2011 11:37 am

Here are some vids of trackdays in Mondello and Kirkistown down through the years, for anyone who may be interested in tracking their car or to see how it handles. I meant to throw a thread up like this a while ago. There is some in car and pit wall footage.

I totally caught up with this 360 in the end in this last vid

gearing sounds way to long in ftos a shorter final drive would help it out a bit every time ya change gear it sounds like it died for a second then took of again

Good vids OI.

yep - the gearing in FTO's is not suitable for track work - but does suit the everyday grind so I guess it'll come down to whether you want to be a trackday god 2 times a year or have a good all round road car for the other 363 days.

4.6 will help acceleration alot but still only be 300rpm in the difference in 5th gear at moterway speed but the difference would be night and day on the track doesnt help with every 1 runing 17s :smt005

surely as long as the overall diameter is the same (or less) than the standard OE 16's (with 50 profile tyres) then theres no odds.
AFAIK a set of 17 inch 215's with a 40 profile will actually still be smaller diameter than a set of standard 205/16 50's.

cheapest way would be to get a set of 15s and get um 195 50 15s(r888s) just for track that will also help acceleration.

ya that is true i just don't like the no 17 ha ha

could always get adelia magic gear kit and standard 5th for motorway but i had a 4.3 final drive in the asti for a week to see what it was like and longer gears and it killed my car 1st gear to 2nd droped from 8200 to 5200 rpm but at motorway speed i was sitin at 3000rpm at 75 which was nice as the car was so quiet unlike normal 4300rpm which activates lower cam lobe which in the rs is nearly as aggressive as upper cam hahaha
