Icetronix Imports in Dublin - anyone used them?

Postby adrian » Thu Jul 31, 2008 1:36 pm

Anyone know Icetronix imports in Dublin or have any experience with them? I have been keeping an eye on their stock the last while, they have some nice EuroR Accords in:

Seem to specialise in over priced honda's and they do this ineteresting photo shop thing with their printed ads to give the cars a surreal semi -animated look. That's as much as I know.

Whats all this big letter business then? ;)

I'll agree that they tend to sell over priced Hondas, personally, I'd stick with the other overpriced jap dealers (I've yet to find one who sells cars at reasonable prices, Trade Cars Ireland are one of the better ones).

A mate was out in Icetronix and asked then how much they were looking for a 91 NSX, they wre quoting early 30's and he made a comment, suffice is to say thay don't take too keenly to you questioning their prices.

Very difficult car to value over here all the same CJ...not many about to guage it on....in all honestly I'd pay 30k for a clean NSX if I could afford it...

I've recently did the maths on what it would cost to import an early NSX, it would appear that Icetronix were looking to make 10K+ on it. That said, business is business and I don't begrudge anyone trying to make a buck. Personally, I wouldn't pay early 30's for a 91 NSX in the knowledge that I can import myself for a whole lot cheaper.

On that Note - Adrian, have you considered the self import route at all?

Isn't that Icetronic NSX an Auto? If so def not worth 30K.

I have and I will look into it for sure.... is service hsitory possible to get or is there alot of risk in that? I reckon you could land a EuroR 2003 for about 16,000 euros... some of the cheaper ones in Ireland are 19,000 so there is a saving to be made alright.

You'll get service history - in Japanese. If SH is important to you then the import route may not be for you. Suffice is to say that Jap auctions are very well run in terms of pointing out issues or potential pitfalls with regard to auction cars. I would go as far as to say that I won't be buying another Jap performance motor privately or thru a dealer - auctions all the way from now on!

Is that the one with the badly retro fitted facelift front bumper? I've briefly looked at the price of importing before, but I've always felt that the NSX is a very overpriced car. But at 20k it would be worth considering. :!:

I would recommend Nikkyo from my experiences, IBC also come highly recommended, their fees are slightly more that Nikkyo.

Except when they're trying to rip you off - car dealers have had it easy the past few years (like property) - the margins have grown to rediculous percentages but that's going to change as is evident by the collapse of Orwell motors this summer.
