Gone over to the dark side

Postby Wildhound » Sun May 25, 2008 10:25 pm

I bought an Integra yesterday evening.

That is a 1.5 1988 Integra for €300!

Myself and a friend have been planning to get a cheap car to mess about with and so yesterday we were bored and drove down to Kilkenny, picked up this bad boy and drove it home.

Engine and gearbox are in astonishingly good condition although the body needs a LOT of love. There's rust around the rear arches and light clusters that we'll have to weld.

We stripped out all of the rear seats and upholstry and took everything out of the boot today and got started on sanding off the paint. We're going to spray it matt black.

Should be a bit of fun!

We sprayed stuff all over it for no good reason ;)

I'd love to do a project like this if I had space somewhere, just some old car that can be worked on!
When you say you drove it up do you mean you actually drove it or took it in a trailer?!

Oh no I drove it, it's still in NCT! Drives really nicely too. It'd be a decent car if the body/paint was in good nick.

We're considering a new carb and possibly a 16 valve head (it's got a 12v one). Could be good for over 110 bhp. It only weighs 950kg stock and we've already taken out another 50kg easy.

Ditch the old engine and running gear.. get a larger engine - something mental..

S2000 v10..

Keep the body looking tatty - drive around and catch peeps out in their little starbos and opc s..

Hehe, as fun as that sounds I'm not quite prepared to toss that short of money into a 20 year old tat-box. ;)

That said, my mate who bought it with me has been offered a VTEC lump on the cheap. I'll keep you updated. ;)
