Wireless RF tiptronic paddle shifter

Postby markj113 » Thu Aug 28, 2008 2:39 pm

After making up my first one and running it on my car without any problems I have decided to make a few in very limited numbers (depending on final sale price).

I have put the first one on ebay to get a feel what people are willing to pay to see if its worth my while producing any more..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0250531276

You will need an aftermarket steering wheel and boss to fit.

p.s. Im a member of the UK fto owners club, will post to Ireland at cost price.

Interesting, guys have been working on similar systems for a few years with limited success. Is there any additional delay using RF as a transmission medium?

havent noticed any delay. the RF transmitter range is 600ft and in the car the distance needed is about 2ft so I suppose there may be a few milliseconds delay but nothing you can actually tell.

Works just as quick as using the tip stick.

Not on an FTO AFAIK - as the fuel line runs from the bottom of the tank.

those look cool. why RF rather than just hard wiring them in? do they turn with the wheel or something?

Brilliant looking device.. do you by chance have a small video of it in action - I'd love to see this work..

Fair play for coming up with the idea and following through with a product..

Top class!

Maybe you could do a Tip conversion Muad - dump that old fashioned Manual box for a paddle shift!

The paddle shifter bolts between the hub and the wheel so turns with the wheel (just like all the other fto kits inc. the $600 Works Bell USA shifter)

Rf keeps everything nice, neat and tidy and doesnt cause problems like a cable would when turning the wheel.

ill try and get a quick vid on my N95 on the weekend if I get a chance.

Liking the carbon interior bits. The sill you made, did you wrap an existing set in CF or are they made from a mould?
