engine noise

at about 2000 revs crackling noise coming from engine
this started happening after a hard drive any ideas hope engine
is not knackered

does it go away if you rev it or does it stay? are you based in dublin?

Liam, does the noise only appear @ 2k rpm? Hows your oil level, any engine lights coming on? Can you be more specific about the sound, does it occur at idle as well as when driving? If so, get someone to rev the engine and take a closer look to see if you can pinpoint the source of the noise.

no noise when idle but at 2000revs on its very bad
seems to come from top of engine have some one
looking at it to night hope it is only tappets

Could be that the bearings are shot... that normally only shows itself at a certain range of revs.
