Welcome Michael :smt006

Bermuda eh? 4 years! I bet you're looking forward to the weather when you get home ;) Any ideas on what model of FTO you'll be looking for, year etc? Any FTOs knocking around Bermuda perchance?!

If we see an FTO driver with a suntan, we'll know who it is.

Welcome aboard Michael. Bermuda sounds like a nice spot alright..only a tiny spec on the map. I keep toying with the idea of holidaying there, maybe some day....

Welcome home, and to the forum!

I think there is (or was) another owner from that neck of the woods on the forum so you might not be alone up there.

Good luck with your FTO hunt!

Thanks for the welcome.
We are looking for a GPX mivec manual in passion red or midnight blue.
We have owned two FTO mivecs in the past.
I have been in contact with a guy in the UK he is looking for 7,600 sterling for a 97 mivec manual highly customised, i may we able to talk my wife into it ( hopefully   ).
Keep me posted an any cars coming up through the forum thanks.

P.S take a trip to Bermuda july - aug water temp here is 84 dgs and great diving.
Can post a pic of the beaches here.

7600 = ~11200 euros, add vrt, shipping it across to Ireland and fixing any little bits and pieces that need to be done on it and you're looking into quite a few quid! Plus the risk if something serious goes wrong with the car it won't be easy to chase the guy in the UK. I guess it depends on what mods its has, whether its worth it from that point of view.

the car is on Piston heads site for sale i was thinking of driving the car over myself.
Here is the link http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/71489.htm

He seems genuine and has put some loving care into the car.

that is one sweet car, Goughy boys is his name on the UK Forum....

No doubt that would be a well looked after car and i reckon you'd be doing well to pick it up all in for that money

Agreed - there has been a LOT of money spent on that car.
On the face of it - it is expensive for mileage and year - but for someone like myself or Dave it will seem like good value when you add up the bits that have gone on the car.
From a modding perspective - It looks tastefully done and needs nothing done to it apart from some interior mods - Seat trim/ steering wheel etc. Mods done like Teins, Brembos, downpipes & twin exhaust all very expensive - + a lot of money gone on the bodykit and project F lights.

Negatives - its going to be hard keeping it in good condition on Irish roads from a mechanical and astethic viewpoint - the tein suspension on 19's will give a rock solid ride - I hope you don't intend on using it as a day-to-day car. That exhaust will be V V loud - plus it won't react well to potholes or poorly surfaced roads.

Good advice

Postby michaelbirrane » Fri Apr 14, 2006 9:21 pm

The car caught my eye and as for the day to day driving we dont think we will be staying in Ireland for long.
We have a European trip planned and will be in and out of the country alot.
We cant purchase the car for at least three weeks so i think it will be sold before then.
Im keeping my fingers crossed for it still being for sale by then.
Whatever happens we will be looking forward to meeting some of the other FTO owners.

Hello again

Postby michaelbirrane » Tue May 09, 2006 7:15 pm

Made it back to the auld sod in one piece three days ago and the first thing we did was start looking for an FTO.
We will be making our way down to waterford in the next two days to look at a mivec gpx manual.
Looks clean and is a new import so if we go for it will be the first owners in the country.
Its rear spoiler blade is missing so i will be on the lookout for a replacement maybe a topmix if anyone known where i can get one let me know.
