Another VR4 in the club (NOW WITH PICS)

Postby steelroe » Mon Aug 25, 2008 11:23 pm

Collected a 1997 LEGNUM (VR4) yesterday in the UK.

1997
142000 Km
Tipronic
Blue in colour.
Drives perfectly and is clean inside and out.

Few small jobs to do.
Fluid and filters being changed before the end of week.
One of the alloy wheel nut covers is missing.
Clean and Polish. Check everything over.

This is some car for an estate. Took it easy in the UK yesterday just incase it gave up the ghost. Once on Irish soil It got a good run from Rosslare to Kerry

The plan was to use the engine for a transplant into FTO and break the remainder fro parts. But this car is too good for that and I have managed to locate another 6A13 engine. So what to do, think I will enjoy the experience for a couple of weeks and then sell her on. Have too many cars around the house as it is. SO if anyone is interested watch this space.

So how much is the VRT on that puppy then ? Does it fall into the max bracket because it's an import ?

OPen value here is only 2K so 33% of that (according to the online calculator). Hoping to get emissions cert to lower the TAX also.

Christ, that does look in good nick. And it does look too good to use as just a donor engine and break the rest.
Nice buy :)

Certainly doesn't look like a car thats fit for breaking.
Whats it like to drive? - I imagine its fairly suitable for travelling the roads of Kerry.

Body is in almost immaculate condition except for one paint chip on bonnet. 1 or 2 small dents that can only be seen with artificial light source.

142,000 Km. Drives perfectly. Not even a knock from the suspension. I am seriuosly consideing selling it on.
As CJ said previously it feel well quick, up to 60 in no time. Mightly impressive for a Automatic gearbox.
Absolutely everything works A1 (except for the cigarette lighter which failed so I had no sat nav for part if the journey home),fixed now though. Interior is super clean, There is one small tear in the read roof liner, from something large in the boot i would think.

All fluid and filters bought and ready to install. must give it a complete once over in the next few days.

Just enjoying it at the moment, and yes I know its an estate (or a tank as my wife calls it).

You'll find it next to impossible to find a similarly quick estate for the money, they're surprisingly fast.

Looks in great nick Rory, nice buy.
