Cork is only about an hour from Dublin.

Maybe if I Mivec my whole way there lol. It takes nearly an hour just get out of Dublin. My trip to Cork was around 2.5 hours a couple of weeks ago. Would go as far as Kilkenny I think.

You only say that because you haven't been on a meet before.
The further away the better, it means more time in convoy which is great craic.
The looks a line of FTOs get going through small towns is priceless.

Well in fairness I'm from West Cork and I've driven to meets in Kilkenny, Wexford, Dublin, Limerick, Galway, and Northern Ireland, in fact all over Ireland. And once with Bernard and Colm to a meet on the east side of England, where we drove the breadth of Ireland, got the ferry to Wales, drove through Wales, and then the breadth of England. Its the driving is the best part of meets. Understandably times are tougher now than a couple of years ago when we could all easily pay for petrol for long journeys without worrying about the remainder of cash left in the bank account for loans, mortgage repayments, etc., but if you travel to a meet in convoy it makes it a much more worthwhile experience instead of sitting in a car park somewhere for an hour and heading home on your own. You still get to look at everyone's cars and have a chat on the long meets, many times cause we stop for photos, coffee, and wind down the evenings with a nice creamy pint if staying over. Its a social event more-so than anything else.

Yeah but I have less chance of getting speeding tickets and penalty points if it's closer

Easy solution to that too; obey the rules of the road and keep to speed limits, like we do on all meets, messing or acting the maggot isn't tolerated as it brings everyone down and tars the whole lot with the one brush, ...so.....next excuse? :)

Now you're definately talking like a man who has never left the pale!

I'm not even going to insult the rest of Ireland by answering that one....

hehehe. Looks like a date needs to be set. Sundays and Mondays for me, as I am booked up with clients until Christmas every other day.

Well someone needs to do something soon, I presume there is a dedicated person to organise these.

@ goz. Im guessing Saturday's would be best for the majority for people who work Monday to Friday as most do. Plus weekenders are the best with the club members.
And as time is closing nearer to Christmas time is too short to organise something before it.

I have no problem organising something for after Christmas in early January if people want!

At this stage I reckon ye're better off waiting for the birthday bash in February, 2 meets very close together would see numbers drop in both, whereas have one in that timespan and its more likely there will be better numbers.

Stewy anyone can do the organising, wherever the meet is going to be its best if someone from that area or vicinity organises stuff as they know best routes to drive and best places to stay/eat etc.

Plenty of notice needed here. I am already booking people into the middle of January and January is a very busy period for people wanting to give up the smokes. I HATE JANUARY. If feb is to be organised, better get things set in motion, so people can get prepared. Will there be any video getting done at this meet? The one online was class I have to say.
