Hello there people

Postby Dilogoat86 » Fri Nov 20, 2009 3:21 pm

Hey there to you all.
My name is Jonathan. I'm a mate of Wildhound's and have been working on his car with him since he got it. There's a lot to learn but it's all enjoyable. I also have a 1979 Mini Clubman that I've done a small restore job on as well as a big engine project (36HP to 80+HP)
Just bought Wildhound's FTO the other day after he bought Colm's FTO. Absolutely love the car to bits and now I've a list of todos;

Lambda sensor,
Decat,
Clean engine cover,
Polish the plenum,
New dial rings and dashlighting,
Do the tappets, (Anyone have a Mitsubishi tappet adjustment tool)
Front strut brace (massive handling improvments apparently)
Droplinks all around,
Reset the ECU,
Clean the downpipes.

These are in no particular order but they all need to be done. I'll get the car up on the ramp next week and take a few snaps of the car in it's current state.

Look forward to getting involved and helping people out with work on cars etc. I have a full tool box so I can help with most jobs.

Jonathan

Get us some pics altogether...both of one and the other :-)

Congrats on the purchase and Well wear.

Do you do polishing of non shiny bits? (had to be careful on the wording there)

I'm going to do a full polish of the plenum. The engine cover is already off so I'm going to treat the plastic so it's relatively smooth and then come up with a scheme. I think the greeny black cuts out a lot of possibilities for colour schemes so I'm thinking to keep it simple. Plenum, cover, SS or chrome rad and powersteering caps. SS dials, gear knob and handbrake.

I'v read that the polishing that amount of aluminium is VERY time consuming so I'm going to get myself a bench wheel and get cracking sooner rather than later.

Anyone got a second hand ABS strutbrace?

Alos, pics will have to wait til monday. I'm in Glasgow this weekend. I'll get the mini pics up in a bit.
