Rear Windscreen Demister

Postby DubC » Wed Jan 15, 2014 6:11 pm

Hi,

Last weekend the rear window demister stopped working - no idea why. The icon still appears when the button's pressed, but that's it. The boot's full due to audio equipment so I'm not sure if that could've damaged the wiring. All of the fuses under the bonnet are fine - could it be a fuse by the drivers footwell? I do have a spare windscreen but I'd really hope I don't need to go that route.

Regards,

Carl

Demister appears to be fuse 6 in the drivers footwell. Best check it.

Just checked the 30A fuses - both of them are fine... :S

Taken a few snaps of the wires (I think?) belong to the demister which go through the boot. I'll have them on here in a while.

EDIT: I'm not sure if any of these images are relevant.

Demister wires run each side of the rear passenger compartment not in the boot at all.
You will need to remove the panels on each side to get to them but if you can use a voltmeter you can test easier that way.
switch on the demister and check if you have any power to the plugs on each side of the screen.Have you got an electric aerial?
If not then your aerial will be on the rear windscreen so the demister plugs will be the lower ones.
Hope this helps
