I have just got mine in the last few weeks but I actually have it in my fiance's name and she has insured it. But I did look around for quotes just in case I have to insure it in my name. Best I came about with is this.

Model\Year: 95 GR Manual
Age: 27
License Type: Full 10yrs
Cover Type: TPF&T
NCB: 2yrs
Named driver experience: (don't think this counts)7yrs
Insurer: Quinn Direct
Policy amount: €1600

Or there or there abouts. It was €2,200 for comp. Now that was off the website so might get better by dealing with them direct.

I am with Axa at the moment but I didn't try them for a quote. Tried 123.ie and it was giving me prices of €3k for TPF&T or €3,500 for comp.

I know someone else with a GS maual and he got a good quote from Quinn Direct as well so for blokes anyway, seems to be prob. the best.

Dave, whats your definition of 'old' and are there any other stipulations that are required ie. minimum NCB etc?

not fully sure to be honest ciaran and old i reckon 25+ and that's about it, the main thing with StPaul is that they take more performance motors and split the risk that way, i don't deal with the insurance side of stuff more numbers side but if i can get a few details maybe we could get a club discount or something. just an idea that's all and considering that there's more and more people coming onto the site if i could give them all to some one in our office to approach StPaul they may want to take a look at it, we do a lot of motor trade with them so they might do a favour.

Good idea Dave, it would be great if we could organise some sort of 'club' based discount rate, obviously the more people that are involved, the better. Can everyone send on their details to Dave so as he can take a look at the option? I assume you'll need the following details:

Car - Year, model, alarm, immob, value, parking (?)
Age
NCB details
License details
Area resident in

Basically yeah, all the usual stuff for quotes and any accidents and stuff like that, i've mentioned it to one of the directors in here and even if i can get a number of people interested (well i suppose everyone would be in cheaper insurance) so lets say how many active members we have on here?? and some details of a few of ye for comparison purposes?

Okay folks, this is the latest, what i will need before i can approach any insurance company will be around twenty names, but if i can fill the following template out for any one who's interested we could go from there.

Current Insurer
Renewal Date
Age
Region
Licence
Model
Cover
NCB
Claims
Current Premium

i've already got a couple but i'll need a good few more before they would contemplate any discount. so if ye want to persue this, email me on dave@oreillycullen.com and i'll keep ye posted.

Apparently they won't quote for an FTO unless you already have an existing policy on anFTO... I was told they would only quote me because I was already insured on an FTO (GS) and was moving to another FTO (GR). They then told me that if I had been moving from another car they wouldn't have quoted me.

Cheers, i'll add it to the lists but to be honest about it, we'd need at least twenty names before i could approach them. We've got four.... but hopefully it'll pick up.

Alright folks, just got a few quotes back and they are only slightly more expensive, so if we can get a few more names to add to the list then maybe we could get even a 5% discount, which would easily match and more than likely beat the majority of quotes out there!!!
