I envy u guys the ability to get newer model FTO's and also be able to get "Bling Bling" from the UK. We're pretty starved for that sort of stuff here and have to pay top dollar on ebay from the UK. The exchange rate is a killer and I'm sure some of them rip us off on postage

I have a 95 GPX Tip, white in colour with a sunroof.

I'm just going to take some time to visit some of your topics - one has caught my attention. Its the one on custom made number plates. Thats a complete no no over here. The plates must be RTA (Roads and Traffic Authority - or the Third Reich) issue or you will be fined - You get fined for looking sideways over here Dont mod the car for God's sake or you could get defected!

Never mind most of us have mods on our cars and so far have survived inspection.

Anyway I'm going cruising on you forums.

ooops, I pinched the avtar from another site - a Suzuki Motorcycle site to be exact!! Hubby is a motorcycle rider, his toy is a GSX1300R Hayabusa. But its nice to have our toys. I'm his "rear hugger" and he is my "white knuckle dash passenger" How sweet eh??

No we dont have a lot of parts for the FTO cos not many of them were imported before the f'can government decided to change import laws to stop them flooding the market and taking sales from "legit" import cars.. Mind u the ratio of "legit" import sales to local made sales has not changed so one has got to conclude that our niche market really had no effect on the overall market.... But go tell that to the Bureaucrat...

Anyhooo.... I would like to thank "Paddyman" aka Rory for his input to our site and the aus breaker web site he has found for us - it was greatly appreciated...

Car looks really well Kaz, I especially like the oval twin exits, they improve the overall look of the rear in an understated way, good choice! I assume its a custom job?

Ok we have a Registration cost of AU$243.00 a pink slip (road worthiness cert) of AU$45.00 and a Green Slip Insurance (which is third party personal/property insurance, ie if u injure somone in an accident or damage their property) of AU$328.90 plus the actual car insurance - now I'm over 35 (ouch!!) and quite a good driving record (read: never been caught ) so I've found a company - Famous Classic Car Insurance which is underwritten in Jersey (For God Sake!) for AU$860 with an excess of AU$500 but only for the likes of me, normal excess is AU$1000.

How does that compare with u lot?

Yeah it's a custom jobby which the other owner paid for heee heee! I must say that it is pretty unique - I havent seen any other FTO's here with the same set up

For mine, 95 GR manual, registration of €1617 (once off), national car test (road worthiness thing every 2 years) €58, insurance depending on driver of course, me, 28, had full no claims until jan last year but fully comprehensive for about €2800. Was going to be HALF if not less than that before the claim. Not an untypical amount for people to pay though for insurance. Check out the insurance forum if you wanna know more. Yearly road tax last year stood at €539 I think it was.

Not a cheap car to own but she's worth it methinks!

Nice looking car kazbah...I've been in OZ a couple of times - theres a fair amount of FTO's over there - what a great country to keep a car like an FTO - cars seem to last a hell of a lot longer over there - 10 year old cars over here tend to be bangers (FTO excepted) due to the condition of Irish roads and a crap climate.

Pity about your police though! I've never seen so many speed traps in my life.

Dont get me started about the bloody speed traps. Those damn fixed speed cameras are a gold mine for the government. They insist that they are only erected in high accident areas, biggest load of crap I ever heard The bastards have them all over the place. I could go on and on about them but best not to bore you all and wear out my welcome..

Jesus that works out to AU$5635.00, bloody hell and that isnt including the once off rego, mine works out at an annual cost of AU$1476.90. How the hell can u afford to drive them and I suppose high octaine petrol is worth more than gold too , we pay around AU$1.10/litre.
