howdy guys, long time no see (although I'm around, as a sort of observer  )

Sorry for a bit off-topic post, but I've got a question regarding those dials. They were installed on my old FTO. Since the car is designed with metric system in mind it's got kilometres as the main unit. Those dials' main unit is MPH, and it goes up to 180 mph, whereas it actually shows your current speed as if it was kph. I was always wondering what was the story with that - my mechanic when he first drove the FTO was surprised to say the least when he was overtaken by a Micra when doing 80 mph  Should I have sort of recalibrated my speedo to follow actual kph? I'm really curious.

There's a chip you fit that changes the pulses going to the speedo to 62% quite common on Japanese imports. Also delimits the car too.

I would love if it did not have MPH written on the dial. I find it a little annoying tbh.

is there something im seriously missing here.
Isn't the numbers in the exact same place on the dial, so if you doing 120 your actually doing 120. the only difference is the three little letters. (this being on a standard fto what hasn't been messed with)

No you're right, you have to fit a chip to get those dials reding right. And you only use a quarter of the speedo dial in real life

I had visual performance dials on my blue fto, same craic, I didn't bother with a chip and the speedo read correctly (units were wrong of ourse)

Here's my kmcs on the silver fto

No, you're not missing anything. It just says that you're doing 120MPH, when in fact, you're doing 120KPH, unless you have the chip converter, which would be pointless in a kph country anyway.
