Are you in Ireland or UK ? If it's the former - good luck.
Let us know if you can prove us wrong. Nothing surprises me wrt insurance in this country.

I reckon you will find that insurance companies in this country are very reluctant to insure anything that has been modified to any extent. An engine change (for a more powerful non standard variant) would be virtually uninsurable. I wouldn't like to advise you to insure as per log book - but I reckon 3rd party insurance would be the only route available in this country without getting shafted.

Xsdirect are willing to insure mine as a turbo but read the t&c's even before you get a quote. As they need a car to be valued at a set price or above if its oved 10 years old.

I agree with most of the sentiment above. However an Fto is virtually impossible to insure a colt is easy to insure. I would not be too surprised if it was doable. For those companies willing to provide cover I wouldn't be surprised if thy just had a flat rate price adder for modification - same price for an induction kit as it is for an after Market turbo, engine swap etc XSdirect told me before that they do not insure Modefied cars Full stop. Of course that probably changes depending on who answers the phone

i no of a few eg civics, with k20s in them insured correctly. its very easily do as conversions are very common now days

if all comes to all the father can insure it for about 500€ then put himself on his policy for another 500€ job done

Never understood that whole 'for the win' thing, doesn't even make sense in a real sentence. Think I'm of a different generation, didn't grow up on text speak or random words being thrown into a sentence just for the sake of it. :smt102

FTW isn't random its years and years old. And comes from horse racing as far as I know "Comes in for the win"/ "Comes in to take the win"

Have you ever used it in conversation with an actual person and not just online?

Still doesn't make sense no matter where it comes from, can't people just say 'brilliant!', or 'excellent!', or a word that actually means what they feel, not 'FTW', which is a phrase and has no concept of emotion, therefore makes no sense in the context it was used.

Ramblings over, point made, I just don't like text speak or the way grammar and general chat is going nowadays so just making a point. NSMFTW.

As much as text speak annoys me, I think the bigger problem is suggesting that lying to the insurance company is the way to go.

For the record, FTO Ireland doesn't condone this kind of thing.
Not only is it illegal, it's stupid.
And despite what the Op posted in the first place, the fact remains... if you can't insure it, you can't drive it.

FTW has been around for years alright. To be fair, I use it in real life a lot :) Phrase I picked up from UL gamesoc forums and gaming cafe lock-ins, back when I was a nerd :)

I think it actually originated online, from online gaming communities, like WOW etc.

Did you get a quote from excess direct yet?

If you cant get a private quote you'll need to take out a trade policy. That will cover you
