Conficker worm...

Postby kevinod » Mon Mar 30, 2009 11:41 pm

Hi guys,

big fuss going on about the Conficker worm at the moment. Apparently it's due to trigger midnight UTC April 1st (i.e. Tuesday night).

Recommended to have Windows hotfix KB958644 installed (should be included if you get all the latest critical patches), and your viruschecker fully updated, and unless it needs to be, have your PC powered off at 11pm Tuesday night if not before.

Seems to be a real threat - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conficker. We spent most of the day at work getting all the lab machines up to date, and I'm lined up on call for Tuesday night even though I'm supposed to have Tues & Wednesday off.
