Mitsubishi FTO GR 1995 low fuel cannot accelerate

Postby wadepaul » Sun Aug 04, 2013 8:43 am

Hi guys, seems i cannot find any related problem like this in this forum..

I have a mitsubishi fto gr 1995 model manual transmission, all is in good working condition... just quick question?? why is it when i got low fuel or let me say 1/4 of my fuel in tank, my mitsubishi wont go to 3000rpm when i try to accelerate upto 3000 rpm or beyond it will try to stall or wont let me go higher rpm.. but for 1000 or 2000 or 2500 rpm its ok normal and i can run the fto in slow...when i refuel its all back again and i can accelerate upto 8k-9krpm... is this ok? is this part of its saftey feature in mitsubishi fto gr 1995?

hope to hear from you guys... i love my mitsubishi fto..

Has the car warmed up before you do this?

What are those wheels? I love them!

Can't help on the problem - seems strange.

So where are you based - NZ perhaps ?

Maybe your fuel gauge is reading wrong, it could be just empty when reading a 1/4 tank. When you accelerate hard it will chuck and try to stall.

The fact that your FTO is affected as the fuel level drops would lead me to believe that its likely down to fuel pressure.

Have you changed the fuel pump to date? No harm in upgrading to a walbro pump or similar and see if this resolves the issue.

Nice FTO BTW. Looks like you had to get some serious arch rolling work done on the rear to get those Advans to fit?

hav'nt change the pump yet, i will put it into consideration... yeah we extend the wheel mounting about 1" so the rims will fit and for now i might modify the finder since the wheels will hit into it when there is a bump... :)
